2023, Environmental PollutionEffects of antibiotics and metals on lung and intestinal microbiome dysbiosis after sub-chronic lower-level exposure of air pollution in ageing rats
2022, Ecotoxicology and Environmental SafetyCitation Excerpt :Similar findings with decreased FEF25–75 and FEV20/FVC in rats were reported after 6 months of traffic-related air pollution exposure with an average ambient PM2.5 of 19.7 μg/m3 (Jheng et al., 2021). FEV20 and FEF25–75 are medium to small airway function tests, which were the primary site of increased resistance in early stages of airway obstruction (Jheng et al., 2021; McFadden and Linden, 1972). These findings indicated that air pollution exposure particularly in the presence of PM2.5 decreased the lung function due to airflow limitation in ageing rats.
